Pharmacological measures:
- Prazosin starting at 1 mg at bedtime, titrate up gradually to 3 mg at bedtime. (alpha 1 adrenergic antagonist)
- Clonidine 0.1 mg at bedtime for one week, titrate up gradually to 0.3 mg at bedtime. (alpha 2 adrenergic agonist)
Both these meds reduce sympathetic outflow in the CNS. With both of these meds watch out for orthostatic hypotension.
Non pharmacological measures:
- IRT : Image Rehearsal Therapy
